A maid is a full time or part time domestic service professional who is generally assigned the responsibility to clean and maintain a certain area of a large or formal home, usually working under the supervision of a housekeeper or household manager. The maid may live in or live out.
A maid's duties may include the following:
- Cleaning the interior of the home and the immediate areas outside (patios, porches, walks)
- Kitchen maintenance - dishes, cupboards, pantry, counters and floors.
- Laundry (Clothing & household linens). Generally does not include delicates and finer wardrobe items.
- Bed making, routine bedding & linen changes
A personal maid may additionally be responsible to prepare the employer's hair, help with dressing, pack for trips and keep the employer's clothes in order.
A part time maid will be paid $10 - $20 per hour. Full time maids will earn $25K - $40K per year.
