Licensed family day care providers are typically listed with the local Child Care Resource and Referral Agency (CCR&R). Many licensed providers will utilize local newspapers to advertise their vacancies when they occur. Many of these providers will maintain waiting lists should they not have a suitable vacancy when you contact them.
When families talk to the CCR&R, they should request information about licensing and regulation in their area. Is there a violations or complaints tracking system? If so, be sure to check this against the provider list you receive.
